About Storytellers Drum, Inc.

MISSION: To preserve and perpetuate the oral traditions through the arts.

Storyteller´s Drum, Inc (SDI) is a not-for-profit entity. SDI, formerly Griot Drum, Inc, was organized 2000 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

SDI offers performance art that is entertaining and educational.

Oral Tradition is generally defined as "the preservation of personal and cultural history in the oral communication of stories, songs, and poems." African Oral Tradition often includes musical accompaniment. This is the way of the Griot or Jeli. SDI seeks to utilize components of this rich culture in its presentations.

SDI also uses the medium of reenactment or living history. SDI uses both real and fictional characters to entertain and educate.
