The Griot Drum Ensemble honors the tradition of the great & magnificent griot. A griot holds an honored social position in past, as well as contemporary, West African culture. The griot, also known as Jali, and by other names, is a master storyteller & musician. The Griot Drum Ensemble assists in preserving & perpetuating the griot tradition by performing traditional African Diaspora high-energy music & storytelling. An interactive performance may also include sharing knowledge of the related culture and instruments with the listeners.

The music will have you jumping to the beat! You will also enjoy the ageless wisdom & humor of African folktales! Book a performance for your school, party, wedding or any event where people love to learn & have fun. The Griot Drum Ensemble is available to tour year-round.

The Griot Drum Ensemble has a splendid group of performers who play djembe, conga, Ashiko, dnun, balaphon, flute and an array of other percussion instruments. Look forward to purchase our new CD to be released the latter part of 2007.
